i cannot even express how much easier this is if you know a certain spell. alternatively, here's a sequence of moves that will get you to the entrance: SW, SE, SE, NE, SE, E, E, W, W, S, S, SE, E, SE, NE, SE, SE, SW, S, SE, NE, E.

there's really nothing great lying around here. unless you want to level by beating up some Shambling Mounds, just get through it.
