there's an exit to the prison in the rooms behind the TaskMaker's throne (which you get access to as soon as he gives you your tenth task), or you can conjure a ship when you're in Outer Terra.
talk to the prisoner and give him something nice, but don't expect the TaskMaker to be happy with you when you come back. (i.e., prepare for the boss battle!)
